Rider Stories #2 – Bryan

TPR Rider Stories#2 – Bryan must be our most “mature” rider and volunteer at the amazing age of…. well lets just say he gets a telegram from the King in three years time!

If you have ever ridden with us, he will undoubtedly be a familiar face. He enjoys waving you away in the morning and he loves to greet every rider home at the entrance to the finishing straight with his chequered flag. He has been to every event we have ever run, come rain or shine, and he also makes the cheese rolls and refreshments for all the team. If we let him have a few hours off, he occasionally rides one of the shorter events as well.

Bryan was a member of Great Yarmouth Cycling Club in the late 1940s and 1950s and is still a daily rider around Gorleston and the surrounding lanes.

He is an inspiration to all the team at TPR and surely a great advert for living an active life with cycling at the heart of his daily exercise. He will not appreciate me telling you he is in his 97th year but we are all very proud of him. That’s 19 Prime Minsters, 4 monarchs and a lot of miles !
At your next event with us, look out for Bryan, give him a cheer on the the way out and a friendly smile and wave upon your return. He will be there with his flag…

If Bryan has inspired you to ride more this year, have a browse of our 2024 programme https://www.thepedalrevolution.co.uk/events

Let us know about your personal story, why you ride and the jeeps that you get up to along the way – we would love to hear from you…
