The Southwold Roubaix POSTPONED

We have sadly made the difficult decision to postpone the Southwold Roubaix, due to take place on 24 October to 10 April 2021.

Although this event not only complied with but far exceeded the Government and British Cycling safety Guidelines for outdoor cycle events, we have been struggling with some insurmountable obstacles, Some Natural – flooding, broken bridges, but most due to fear over spreading the Coronavirus. Routes are changing almost daily as landowners refuse us access across their land, venue changes, car parking issues, cancellation of venues for food stops, lack of staff and volunteers due to either half term holidays or shielding vulnerable family members and sudden increases in costs from suppliers due to increased Covid protection measures being implemented.

This, combined with what will undoubtedly be a very busy day in Southwold – with visitors from Norfolk & Suffolk as well as holiday makers from mainly London but all over the country, has made us reconsider our moral duty to you as well as the general public and we feel the increased risk is simply not worth taking.

We have all worked so hard to overcome the issues that have arisen in planning this event. It has not been an easy decision to make, but we believe it’s the responsible one and we hope that you will keep faith with us in these difficult times and join us in April.

The Soutwold Roubaix 2021
Covid-19 Compliant

The Pedal Revolution Events are thrilled to announce the return of this unique road season opening cycling event. Our 3rd edition of ‘The Southwold Roubaix” will return to a Suffolk on Saturday 10th April 2021.

The Southwold Roubaix’  is our tribute to the famous Paris-Roubaix a gruelling road race renowned for its cobbles, crashes, broken bikes and exhausted riders caked in mud and muck. Held the day before the famed race, our tribute to this classic will be gentler than the Arenberg Forest, but will still feature several sections of rough, unmade paths or cobbles.

It is a recreational cycle ride with routes and distances to suit all ages and abilities. It will feature 25, 50 and 75 mile routes as well as a family friendly ride. Held mainly on quiet roads each route will incorporate optional rough and unmade paths. Our family ride should take you just one hour to cycle – perfect for little legs!

Fully supported with mobile mechanic, ‘broom wagon’ and drink stops along the way, prepare for all the British weather can throw at you and look forward to a well earned chunky medal and warm welcome upon your return.

This event is in compliance with British Cycling’s latest update regarding Covid-19. We are following the “Ride in up to groups of 6 and 1 metre plus mitigations“.
